Document Shredding FAQ

What is the difference between on-site shredding and off site shredding?

The difference between “Off-Site” and “On-Site” is “Off-Site” means that the paper is shredded at BEST Shredding’s secure warehouse. “On-Site” means a vehicle arrives at your place of business and shreds your documents on our mobile shredding truck while you watch. Whichever option you choose, your documents will remain completely confidential from the time of pick-up until the actual destruction of your material.

What do we do with the shredded waste?

Once your documents have been destroyed, we take the shredded material to a paper recycling facility for disposal. We are committed to preserving the environment and recycle all shredded waste that is recyclable.

What type of bin or consoles can we get?

We give the client the option between our security consoles or our security carts. The consoles are attractive and secure and fit nicely into any office décor. The carts are mobile and functional with tremendous capacity.

Do you provide a Certificate of Destruction?

Yes.  A Certificate of Destruction is presented with every invoice. The document shows the chain of custody including the date the documents were transferred to our custody, the amount of material destroyed, date destroyed, and the name and signature of the BEST Shredding authorized team member who did the shredding.

Why use a shredding service instead of using our own shredder?

Money! It will cost you 3 to 5 times more to use a shredding machine than to have a shredding service. The cost of the shredder, labor cost, office space, maintenance, power cost and disposal cost all add up to much more than we charge, and we do all the work for you.
If you shred 1-2 cases of paper per month, our service will save you money. Our mobile equipment shreds up to 4 tons of paper per hour, and we shred everything from paper to 3-ring binders and hard drives. Let your employees focus on their job, not shredding.

Isn’t recycling the same as document destruction?

While recycling ultimately results in the destruction of your documents, sensitive documents may be available for anyone throughout the process to see. Recycling companies do exactly that “recycle”, but they are not trained or in the business to handle and destroy sensitive documents.

Do you require your employees to be bonded?

Yes. This is an area where we feel strongly about differentiating ourselves from any of our competitors. We have the most stringent hiring policy, seeking and employing individuals with the highest level of integrity and competency among our operations, driver/shred technicians, and customer service employees. All employees are bonded, uniformed, and wear an issued security identification badge.
